Help4Access, a provider of highly affordable, database-driven business applications and services, expands and enhances functionality for Rockwell Automation’s Human Resource system.

Rockwell Automation, based in Champaign, Illinois, is a nationally recognized provider of manufacturing automation solutions.  One of the key performance indicators used in its internal management process is employee performance on the distribution center floor.   Rockwell Automation did not have an automated way to calculate these metrics based on available data and was experiencing some challenges with the performance metric database application used to consolidate data from various sources and track key indicators.

Rockwell Automation turned to Help4Access to extend the functionality of its existing Human Resource Management application to include the calculation of performance metrics from the distribution center floor.  The project also included upgrading the existing solution and providing support for the performance metric database.

According to Sasha Froyland, Help4Access Founder and CEO, “Rockwell Automation was faced with two challenges many businesses face.  First, its existing systems could not provide all the functionality needed to operate optimally.  Second, the company reached a point where its existing systems were unable to support its evolving business requirements from an integration and stability standpoint.   These challenges made it clear to the Help4Access engineering team that Microsoft Access was the perfect platform to rapidly extend the existing capabilities at a fraction of the price of other possible solutions.”

Help4Access’s engineering team dove right in and quickly used Rockwell’s high-level business requirements to provide the necessary enhancements, bug fixes, and integration points to meet the customer’s requirements.

“We leveraged all our core competencies in our effort to complete this important effort for Rockwell Automation” Froyland said. “Our business analysts worked tightly with the Rockwell team to capture the detailed business requirements. Our  engineering team worked diligently to deliver a solid solution to meet Rockwell’s unique requirements. ”

The Help4Access team extended the existing application using Microsoft Access and enabled the Rockwell team to calculate employee performance metrics within the application. The team also upgraded the existing solutions and worked closely with the Rockwell team to ensure any issues with the upgrade and new functionality were addressed immediately.

“Custom-built solutions using MS Access 2010 are cost-effective alternatives for manufacturing companies like Rockwell Automation that need to extend their current systems in order to fill functionality gaps” Froyland said, adding “Custom software solutions developed by Help4Access on the Microsoft Access platform offer the perfect balance of performance, low cost and low risk that combine to deliver a very high rate of return.”
